Going Home

It was hard to say goodbye to my mom last night, but not as hard as it was the last time we parted. I had given birth to Jocelynne about 2 weeks previously and Mom had taken care of the both of us for the majority of that time. She cooked and cleaned and bathed the baby, dressed the baby, changed the baby's diapers. I cried as we hugged. I felt like I was being abandoned. I didn't know how to care for Jocelynne! Didn't my mom know her departure was a sure death sentence for my precious little girl? Ok, maybe not a death sentence, but at least something that would require extensive counseling later on in life. Fortunately, Susan came 2 days later and took over what my mom had started.

Becky and Sari had a good time this morning with the hair gel, dressing Jocelynne's hair into a slick 50's hairdo. It's dry now and looks as unruly as ever. I wish that those two lived in Provo. I would have babysitters whenever I pleased. It's hard to even get a chance to feed Jocelynne with Aunt Sari around. After my milk let down last night, I asked for Jocelynne and Sari responded, "She doesn't need you. She's with ME!" Jocelynne did look content, and I'm beginning to think that my sister's right. :) The baby woke up this morning with the sniffles. Her nostrils were almost fully occluded and she was desperately trying to get air. It scared me silly. I didn't have my bulb syringe with me, so I rummaged through Becky's things and found a bobby pin. I managed to extract the obstructions, after which Becky made me throw the bobby pin away. So picky.

We're flying back to Provo tonight and I'm looking forward to my reunion with Landon. He admitted that he misses the baby and me more than he had expected, and despite our fun California adventures, we miss him too.

Jocelynne's first documented "smile".

Aunt Scari kept bugging da Aunt Buck & Mommy when they were trying to sleep. Bad Sari.
