Burp

Jocelynne is still having a hard time "competing" with her sister. When I'm spending too much time nursing/burping/changing Chloe, Joss will fake cry or climb up on my already full lap. She's still scratching and pulling hair. Her new sneaky way to damage the new baby is to "help" me burp her. She'll smack her on the back, and gradually get harder and higher until she's slapping Chloe's head. All the while she's smiling and saying, "Burp, burp, burp."

Chloe is starting to move out of the newborn, non-charismatic slug stage and show her personality. She graces me with a smile at least once a day, starting 3-4 days ago, and likes to track me with her eyes. She's also started crying when she's bored instead of just when she's gassy or hungry. Her baby acne is just starting to fade, and she's getting better-looking by the day. Landon and I are thrilled to have a blond, blue-eyed little girl for now. We understand that things can -- and probably will -- change in the future. Joss' eyes were blue until 10 months, and then they turned green, and now they're mostly brown with some green flecks. She gets lots of compliments on her big brown eyes.

I have the flu (in August!) and am getting a little fuzzy-brained. More than usual. :) Fortunately, the girls seemed to only have a runny nose without other symptoms. Jamie has been helping me a lot with the two kids, going with me on errands so I don't have to lug them around myself. I'll be sad when she starts school again. I think things will get easier once I start sleeping more at night.
