Potty

Pictures: Chloe Smirk; Gussied-up with Nona; I Do it Myself!

Jocelynne has finally decided it's time to use the potty. She is not consistent yet, but will usually run to the toilet if I remind her it's about time and there's a sticker waiting for her. She refuses to use the training toilet, however, and uses it merely as a stepping stool to climb up onto the porcelain beast. Once on top, she straddles it so her under-knees and hands cling tightly to the toilet seat while her bottom and torso sink into the cavernous middle. I don't know how she manages to relax enough to tinkle.

Chloe is doing well in the nursery at night. It seems that, despite hardy attempts to the contrary, neither child is losing sleep due to the other. One of the first nights that they shared a room, I took care in explaining to Joss that Chloe was asleep and we'd have to whisper while in the nursery. I put her in bed, and we whispered "goodnight" to all of her animals and gave silent smiles. "Shhhh. Chloe's sleeping," Joss said softly as she pointed to the crib opposite of hers. I tip-toed out of the room and told Landon how impressed I was at how Jocelynne was accommodating Chloe. Then we turned the baby monitor on and heard Jocelynne's ringing voice, "Chlooooeeee. Chloe! Wake up, Chloe!" When it became apparent that Chloe slumbered through Joss' noisy invitation, Landon and I had a good laugh.
