Peek-a-boo!

Jocelynne had a happy reunion with her dad on Sunday. She gave him a big smile and enjoyed being held by him. Landon was amazed by how big she was and all of the new things she can do. For example, she now plays peek-a-boo. She covers up some of her face with both hands (although she usually leaves one eye fully uncovered) and waits for me to say, "Where's Jocelynne?" Then she'll uncover her face and smile while I exclaim, "There's Jocelynne!" She also tried to feed herself with a spoon yesterday, but soon gave up and let me take over again.

Now that she's walking consistently and it's chilly out, I've started to put shoes on her. The first time I tried this I was able to put one shoe on before she wiggled away. She dragged the shoed foot behind her and acted as if the whole leg was paralyzed. Gwen (this was while she was here) and I enjoyed a good laugh at this. She's become more used to shoes, but still prefers to go barefoot. I've tried just putting socks on her to keep her from getting chilly, but she slips and falls on the wood floor a lot when I do that. Yesterday I put her in her carseat with shoes and socks on both feet, but when we arrived at our destination she only had one sock on. I was pretty impressed.

Landon had a blast in Africa and brought home lots of wooden elephants and hippos, tribal masks, african maps, etc. Thank goodness most of them will be gifted because our house is full enough already! He did a lot of translating and he got to eat fried plantains, fried bananas, and fried fish. Although he thoroughly enjoyed all of that, he was ready for a casserole last night.
