Noisy Neck

Pictures: Peas in a Pod; Girls in Toy Boxes; Aunt Sari and Chloe

We got a new chicken from a friend, and it has been the bane of my backyard since. This chicken is pretty wild, used to sleeping in trees and laying eggs in the grass. So when she awakened in our coop Sunday morning, she began wandering around the yard while clucking noisily (bok-bok-bok-bok-bok-bukAAAAAk. bok-bok-bok-buKAAAAAk). I couldn't quiet her with food, but she'd be quiet when I chased her around the yard. So I ended up running after her 3 times between 6 and 9 AM to keep her from disgruntling the neighbors. Last night she escaped into the neighbors yard, and I had to catch her with yellow rubber cleaning gloves on and put her back in the coop (after clipping her wings). I think she'll be gone again tonight, as she managed to fly the coop (literally) before dawn this morning and was hunting bugs in the yard. I think we'll be returning Redneck (her name before Joss and I renamed her) to her unfortunate owners.

Joss and Chloe came with me to the hospital for Jamie's labor on Wednesday. Fortnuately, she was only in the hospital 2.5 hours before having baby Sienna. I got to be her doula, which was a great experience. A friend came and watched the girls while the slept with hospital blankets in the waiting room.

Sari was able to spend a few days with us last week. We went for walks, got Gelato, and had a barbeque.
