He Talks!

Tristan's first word made it's debut this morning. He climbed onto my lap, dropping my Harry Potter book onto the floor in the process. Looking down at the book on the floor he said, "Uh-oh". I smiled in delight as I realized he was no longer limited to the vocation of professional mime. He can also hiss like a snake and screech like a monkey when asked for animal sounds.

Chloe has maintained her oral fixation from babyhood. When she doesn't have her thumb in her mouth, too often it's occupied by other objects. This week I've discovered her sucking on coins, old food from the crack of the seat in the van, and plastic streamers from the handlebars of Jocelynne's bike.

Joss seems to enjoy school more than she did her first few weeks. She comes home and sings songs she learned in class, and most days she recites the Pledge of Allegiance in French at dinner. I had to talk to her again about copying her friend's papers during class, however. Her response was, "Mom, it's not CHEATING, it's just REPEATING."

Landon's up to his eyeballs in school work and his own research, of course. He puts in long hours, studying at school from 8-5 and then studying again after the kids are in bed until 11 or 12 at night. It'll be nice when he finishes classes in a couple of months.
