Jocelynne greeted the dawn with gusto this morning as we wished her a happy 5th birthday. Her normally languid movements to get ready for school were replaced with an ecstatic fervor to get to class and claim her birthday crown. I came to school during the kids' snack time to pass out birthday treats. A gigantic cardboard ring engulfed both of Joss' pigtails and large bows. And she couldn't stop smiling. Mr. Motte praised her, saying that she knew the most French out of anybody in the class.
Chloe is in a stage where she's a big girl at times and reverts to being a baby at others. When she wants to do something independently, she's a big girl. When she's done something wrong (like today when she colored her belly and arms orange with a marker), she plays the baby card and wants to be held. She enjoys being the oldest when Joss is away at school, but she likes it more when Joss comes back and she has a playmate. (I'm sure Tristan will be more fun when he starts talking and stops biting.)
I'm hoping Tristan will be ready to potty train soon. Last week while we were playing outside he took off his diaper and peed on the Frisbee. And a few days ago he stripped again and climbed onto the toilet, although he failed to make any contributions to the bowl.
He's learning many signs, but his favorite words are "milk please." I'm trying to wean him to nurse just before sleeping, but he has other ideas and begs with his hands throughout the day. "Milk please." "Milk please." "MILK PLEASE!!" If I ignore this, he resorts to more aggressive communication. And that's when I feel his teeth sink into my thigh.

I remember when that dark haired big eyed baby was born! I can't believe how fast it goes by. My baby Nora is already such a chunk (if you can believe that of one of MY kids!) Three and a half months old already and Katie will be 2 day after Christmas. What a fun Christmas eve we spent together that year talking about all the ways to get her to come. I miss you guys bunches, but since we're moving to Fresno, Yuba City is only a few hours away!
