Landon Jones, Toucan Warrior

In a world where mosquitoes, boas, pejivalle trees, and snapping toucan bills discourage the most adventurous of scientists, Landon Jones bravely ventures forth to track toucans with his telemetry equipment.

A pejivalle tree like this one left several quills in Landon's calf last week.

This bite left a mark. I wish we could hear the audio.

The Toucan Warrior executes his research with nets, machetes, and crossbows in the rain forest. (The crossbow is used to set up the nets, not to hit birds.)

Even the most beastly of field scientists have a softer side.

This is a group of people from our ward. Alys, on the left, is the young women's president and Mariann (in the pink shirt) is her counselor. The other two met and married in the states and then moved back here, where she is from.

Sidenote: notice the Garfield t-shirt. Many people here buy clothes from Ropa Americana stores, where used American clothing is sold. The problem is the majority of them can't read English, so nice people walk around town wearing shirts that say "Up Yours" and "I Scare Myself".

Tristan's 3rd birthday party. He's too thrilled with his kiddie pool to look at the camera.

Logan showing off his new skill: sitting independently. His next mission: adding some teeth to that grin.

Ojos celestes.

LOL. Have you ever told anyone what their shirt says? Does Chloe get a lot of comments on her blond hair and blue eyes?

Logan is so darn cute!! Tell the Toucan Warrior to hurry up and study all those birds so you can come back to Louisiana!

This post sort of made me feel a little jealous of your magical adventure, then I remembered that Jeremy is a low risk desk job kind of guy and we would all die out there in one day. You're a brave bunch. I hope the kids look back on this time with fondness.
