Critters
Army ants march through our complex every 4-6 months. My neighbor calls them the "limpiadores", or "cleaners." They swarm an area, flush out the insects, cut them up and carry them off. We had a modest stream spill into our apartment last week. I put Logan in his crib, sent the kids out to play, and then watched them scour the house.
This group was outside our apartment. Logan stepped into their territory and they planted a few good bites on his feet before I extracted him.
One of the victims of the swarm. YES!!!
A big bug one of Landon's volunteers brought home from the field.
We get spiders like these in our house from time to time. The biggest ones are the size of my palm. Sari probably remembers shooing one out of the house at midnight during her visit.
Landon's work in the jungle is no cushy desk job. This is a profile picture of his neck after an ant attack.
Yet the Toucan Warrior perseveres.
The kids like to go to the farmer's market with me because I buy them homemade ice cream pops. The locals are use to seeing the little hombre de araƱa, since he wears that costume so much. The pirate-spider thing is new, though.
Joss playing with her friend Alison in the park after school.
Joss' 7th birthday party.
Joss' birthday cake, given to her by the banana man in town. (Tristan hit his face on the stairs.)
Chloe with her pet spider.
Isn't it cute? It's now loose and wandering around the apartment. Hope he's not too venomous.
