We're Back!
Maynor and Dandi, our friends who had a banana stand in the center of town. He loves talking about Christianity, and he loves living it.
Sleeping with Joss is a choking hazard.
Our apartment in Costa Rica right before we left. I thought I might feel some nostalgia while looking through these pictures, but it's not there. I almost feel like Costa Rica was someone else's life, long ago. It's so easy to get back into the swing of things here in the U.S. I am no longer shocked when warm water comes out of the faucet when I wash my hands. It's been months since I threw toilet paper in the trash can instead of the toilet. I expect a building to be cool inside, even in the middle of summer. But I appreciate it more.
Waiting in Sacramento for Dad to pick us up after a long journey. We're excited. And can I just say, publicly, "THANK YOU, SARI!"
Becky took us all to a pool and park in her neighborhood and crocheted me pot holders. She had her darling baby, Addy, the next day. Coincidence?
Nonna took us to Lego Land, and we had a ball. Yes, Chewy and R2D2 are made out of Legos. That would be a fun job.
Nonna spoiled the kids all summer long. Poor Logan is strapped into the stroller.
Nonna got the kids ready for church in the morning. Look how they shine!
Logan turned 2! His favorite presents were the balloons.
A lady in Nonna's stake has ponies, and all of the kids got to go riding.
And then they had to brush them down, which was fun.
Ok, so I haven't written in a while. I was having too much fun in California to sit down and type. And then we just got internet to our house here in Louisiana 2 days ago. But there's not much fun in hearing about refinishing the hardwood floors (it took me about 50 hours!), moving a household, getting rid of the renter's fleas, and starting the kids in school. So didn't miss much.
Joss and Chloe had to take placement tests before being admitted to their age-appropriate grades. They didn't necessarily test into 1st and 3rd, but I swore I would work with them at home and catch them up. Apparently sending Joss to French immersion for kindergarten and then throwing her into Spanish public school in Costa Rica hasn't helped her keep up with her peers. So we've been spending lots of time together after school. Lots of time. Kindergarten and 2nd grade are starting to look good. :) At first they rebelled, but I've learned that if I place a few M&Ms on their homework pages and tell them that they can eat them when they work up to the M&M, they're a lot more diligent.

Hooray! I'm glad you blogged, I was starting to worried that you guys had been kidnapped down there. Man, look at you in that Lego land picture, no one should look that good in a hat. You look so sophisticated and sheik. Glad you guys made it back to the states safely.
Hooray! I was going to email you to ask where you were. I echo Ms. Larkin's comment on the awesomely wide-brimmed hat. You look chic. :) Welcome back to America. Good luck catching up the kiddos.
Glad you made it back! When you're ready for a beach weekend, give me a holler, things are pretty gorgeous in Destin in the fall. We're only 5 hours away...which you may also want to remember as hurricane season(s) come and go!
