Jocelynne giggled for us today! I think it was the cutest thing I've ever experienced. She was lying on our bed, and Landon bounced the matress so that her body jiggled until she giggled. We kept doing it over and over again until her smile muscles were tired out. Besides giggling, she likes to coo. Most of the time when she coos, however, it is a malcontent sound. She's saying, "I'm bored. I'm hungry. I'm wet." She gives me plenty of warning coos before she cries, which is really nice.
Just this last week she's taken an interest in toys. With her lack of binocular vision at this age, it's a cruel joke because she doesn't have the depth perception to grab anything. She's just started to stare at her hands, too. I'm not sure she knows that they're hers. She'll watch them moving in front of her face as if she doesn't know what they'll do next. It's pretty funny.
Landon participated in the Christmas bird count yesterday. He started at 8:00 AM and didn't get home until 5:30 PM. He spent the time driving around Springfield, counting birds (he counted about 1,300). Sound like fun? The kicker is he actually had to pay to participate. I'll never understand birding. (If you're the real thing, you're a "birder" and enjoy "birding", not "birdwatching".)
I'll have my first violin lesson tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about that. I'm also spending a lot of time studying for my nurse practitioner exam. The rest of the time, of course, is spent changing diapers and cuddling with the cutest little human ever. Everybody who sees her likes to touch her spiky hair. It gets oily quickly from everyone's hands.
Guess it's time to feed the baby. She's doing her angry coo. :)
