Thanks to all who took our poll. I thought the results would end the nomenclature wars that began when we found out that we were having a boy 10 weeks ago. And maybe it would have if Landon's names would have won the popular vote! :) He admits to being a stinker, but I can't blame him. I would have cringed every time I had to call my son "Duncan", and he feels the same way about "Benjamin" and "Eli." So we scrapped all of our names and started over.
Landon and I have gone through a baby naming book, geneology sheets, and internet top baby names sites. In frustration, we stayed up until almost midnight last week, determined to find a name before retiring. So at long last, success! We found one name that we are both pleased with. For now. We'll see how we feel in 10 more weeks. :)
How do other couples come up with names so easily? Our home teacher says that he and his wife keep 3 lists: one which contains names they both like, and one each for names that only the one spouse likes. I guess the hope is that the other will soften over the course of 9 months? And why do some people say they need to "see the baby" before they can name him/her? Landon and I joked that our babies would have names like "Alien" and "Red" if we held to that policy.

Great pictures. My parents took turns naming my sisters and I. They only had three kids so my dad got to pick twice. To even out the score my mom gave me her name for my middle name. Jeff and I both loved the name Max, but we got a lot of flack from extended family. It got to the point where we were telling people that we would name our kid Muhammad if anyone complained again.
I'm with you about waiting until you see the baby to name it. To me, all newborns look weird for a few weeks until they start to fatten up. Our trick with baby names is that I come up with suggestions and Jeremy has veto power (since he never thinks of any real names). I'm anxious to hear what the name will be!
