Jocelynne's first day of school. It appears she can hardly contain her excitement.

My homework was to send two pictures of Joss to school tomorrow: a baby picture and a recent picture (bottom 2 photos).
Jocelynne had her first day at school yesterday! When I awakened her at 6:45 AM to get ready for school, I held her in my arms like a baby and rocked her. "Do you want to stay home with Mommy forever, Little Baby?" She rubbed her eyes and climbed out of my lap, declaring, "Mom, I have to go to school."
Tristan, Chloe and I stayed in her classroom for orientation but soon had to say good-bye when the kids lined up at the door for PE. All the kids except Joss, that is. She refused to get up, take off her backpack, and get in line. She seemed to want to go home with me and I wanted to let her. She finally shed her bag and lined up, however, and I teared up a little thinking about how her carefree toddler days were ending. But then Tristan starting wiggling in my arms and Chloe grabbed my leg to get me going, and I realized I had enough carefree toddlers at home to keep me busy.
When I asked about her first day at school, Joss told me a story about making "funny eyes" at her deskmate during nap time and making her smile. She was also excited about the milk she gets with her lunch (we drink powdered milk at home).
Transportation has been problematic, and I freaked out the first day when she wasn't there when I went to pick her up. She'd accidentally gotten onto a bus. Then today she fell asleep on her bus and didn't get off at her stop. I must have looked pretty desperate sprinting after the bus in my flip-flops, trying to get Mr. Eric to stop. He didn't, so Joss had to ride around for an hour. She explained sadly, "Mom, I got lost on the bus."

That's a pretty funny story about the bus...at least it will be later. I'm sure it wasn't so much fun at the time. My oldest starts school in a week and a half. I think I'm ready for him to go but I know he's so ready to go. I love the excited Joss pictures at the beginning. She'll love that when she's older.
Carrie - I hope the first day is easier for you. Sounds like it will be since Matthew's chomping at the bit to get started. But be warned: it's not easy to leave such a small person without his/her mama.
I thought that parents who cried when they dropped their kids off at school for the first time were boobs. When I took Paul to his first day of pre-school a month ago he was excited until we got there. He looked around, then looked at me and said with the biggest eyes ever, "Don't go mom. Don't go!" I totally cried. I was the boob parent. He was fine when I picked him up though. Now it's a good thing...except that we have to take him out of school to move AGAIN! Ergh. Oh well. At least this time it is a move up into real "non-student life!" Hooray! Can't wait til you're there too. :)
