Going Green

Pictures: My kids sporting spinach mustaches from their green smoothies. (We usually put Tristan's in a sippy instead of a cup for obvious reasons.)

My parents sent me information about green smoothies, and after reading through greensmoothiegirl.com and "In Defense of food: An Eater's Manifesto" (by Michael Pollan), we've changed our diets to include more greens and whole foods. Joss tolerates the change with moderate complaining, but Tristan and Chloe have embraced pureed spinach, kale, turnip greens, beet greens, and sprouts. Truly miraculous. And Landon didn't glare at me when I explained that from now on we're to "eat meat sparingly". Kudos to my family for happily making a change for the better! I'll let everyone know if we notice any difference in our health after we've been green for a while.

I just read that book recently too. Doesn't the part about processed meat just gross you out? Read his book, "the Omnivore's Dilemma" and it will really gross you out. We now only buy meat that is pasture fed. I've heard about the green smoothies but I haven't really looked into them.

I've mentally put "the Omnivore's Dilemma" on my reading list. Thanks for the suggestion. And the green smoothies are actually pretty good. Not dessert, by any means, but I'm acquiring a taste for them. Although I haven't lost as much weight as I want to, I've gained lots of energy.
